The source of the map is UNOSAT obtained through Reuters. The map displays population density of Haiti and The Dominican Republic. This map would be vital in rescue and recovery efforts for post-quake Haiti in that it shows the highest density of human population. This is important since highest population densities tend to have a higher need for support, using this map would allow rescuers to plan where they need to focus their efforts. This is a very detailed map which is good for obtaining information but it is also confusing to an extent because of the extent of information displayed on the map. This would be a good map for experts familiar with reading this type of map but for novices such as myself it is a little hard to read.
